After a fight with cancer, character actor Junior Mehmood, who was well-known for his parts in Caravan, Haathi Mere Saathi, and Mera Naam Joker, passed away on Friday, according to his son Hasnain.

"On December 8, around 2:00 am, my father departed from this life due to stomach cancer. For the past seventeen days, his condition has been critical. Mehmood's younger son Hasnain Sayyed told PTI that his father had shed 35 to 40 kilograms in just a month.

Originally known as Naeem Sayyed, Junior Mehmood made his artistic debut in 1966 with Mohabbat Zindagi Hai and 1967 with Naunihal. Following their collaboration on the 1968 film Suhag Raat, the late comedic great Mehmood gave him the nickname Junior Mehmood.

Salaam Kazi, the actor's close friend, claimed that Junior Mehmood was receiving treatment from a local physician for a stomach ailment. However, his family chose to take him to Tata Memorial Hospital when he began to lose weight.
