Pakistan Idol Karachi Auditions: 5 Contestants Who Made it to the Spotlight

Pakistan Idol auditions in Karachi have been making waves on the social media as fans have seen some of the most promising music talent from around Pakistan. Six episodes in, the show keeps its audience rapt with tear-filled performances, adjudicating mastery and tales of overcoming odds.

And these are the five contestants who shone at the Karachi auditions:

Rose Mary

Season 1’s familiar face Rose Mary was now not only back but bolder and a force to be calculated with at Pakistan idol. She sang a famous Kate Na Kate Re Ratiyan, original by Runa Laila Ji, & received a standing ovation from judges Zeb Bangash, Bilal Maqsood and Rahat Fateh Ali Khan.

Muhammad Minaam

The youngest of NAPA’s graduates, Muhammad Minaam who is 19 years old only, gave a unforgettable performance on Ranjish Hi Sahi by Mehdi Hasan. Minaam nervous in start but quickly got into his pace & earned a standing ovation from judges. His act amazed the judges and crowd.

Tarab Nafees

18-year-old Tarab Nafees bowled over the judges with her classical rendition of ‘Woh Mujh Se Huey Humkalam’ by Farida Khanum. With a powerful voice and graceful husky delivery, Tarab was lauded for her control and emotion — one of the ones to watch among the young crop of contestants.

Sarfaraz Ali

When 25-year-old Orangi Town delivery boy Sarfaraz Ali sang Tere Bheege Badan Ki Khushbu Se. And silenced everyone in the room. He got a standing ovation and the nickname of “favorite delivery boy” from Rahat Fateh Ali Khan. The swagger and soul in Sarfaraz’s voice made his audition stand out.

Merab Javilin

Merab Javilin, 28 Merab had the judges eating out of the palm of her hand with her dulcet and heartfelt rendition of Jo Na Mil Sakay by Noor Jehan. Her energy and stage presence were some of the most vibrant at the auditions in Karachi.
