Actress Fawlty Towers Star Prunella Scales Dies at 93

British theatre legend Prunella Scales, whose signature role was the acid tongued Sybil Fawlty in much loved sitcom Fawlty Towers, has passed away peacefully in aged 93, her family confirm on Tuesday about her death.

In a poignant statement, Samuel & Joseph (her sons) stated much loved actress dies in London’s home, she had been watched Fawlty Towers the day before she died.

Scales, who had vascular dementia diagnosed in 2013, she’s in home until last few days of her life. Her Husband a veteran actor Timothy West also died last year.

Tributes have been flooding from entertainment industry. Her on screen husband, John Cleese called her "a really great comic actress" and said "scene after scene she was absolutely perfect."

Respected Scales had a supreme career lasting almost seven decades, starring in popular TV series, movies and theater performances. Scales was also nominated for BAFTA Awards, for playing Queen Elizabeth II in A Question of Attribution.

Scales & West charmed with their Channel 4 show Great Canal Journeys, where their humor sketched in viewers.

London's West End theatres will darken their lights for two minutes on Thursday night and also BBC One will broadcast a special tribute episode of Fawlty Towers, Namely The Builders.

Scales is reminisced with legacy of laughter, elegance and ageless British comedy, always cherished as Sybil Fawlty, queen of witty one liners & incontrollable charm.
