13th Barracuda Exercise Concludes Magnificently Under Pakistan Maritime Security Agency
The PMSA has successfully concluded 13th Barracuda Exercise, drill focused on oil spill response, marine pollution control, search and rescue operations. The final day featured multiple real time demonstrations aimed at protecting marine life, ensuring maritime safety, and consolidation regional cooperation.
According to PMSA, the closing session included practical simulations on averting the spread of oil in sea, deploying containment booms, and rescuing people during emergency situations in the sea. Officials said such a large scale maritime exercises are rare in the region and reflect Pakistan’s growing operational capability.
Speaking to the media, Director General PMSA Rear Admiral Shehzad Iqbal said that the exercise witnessed involvement from 17 nations and representatives of five international organizations, with a total of 39 delegates observing the drills. He noted that partner nations not only appreciated Pakistan’s professionalism but also articulated confidence in PMSA’s expanding maritime expertise.
The DG added that Pakistan continues to learn from global best practices while introducing new techniques & innovations in each edition of exercise.
The final day humanitarian lifesaving demonstration, showcasing PMSA’s readiness and respond to emergencies in the sea. Delegates from Turkey and Iran praised the professionalism and skill displayed by Pakistani teams, calling the exercise highly beneficial for regional maritime cooperation.
The Barracuda series, held regularly in the under PMSA, remains Pakistan’s flagship initiative for strengthening maritime pollution control, improving interoperability with the partner nations, and promoting safer seas.
