Both Past Lives and A Thousand and One are competing for best feature, emerging director (Celine Song for Past Lives and A.V. Rockwell for A Thousand and One), and best lead performance.

The 33rd Gotham Awards nominations are led by Andrew Haigh's All Of Us Strangers at Searchlight Pictures, which received four nominations. It is one of the best feature contenders, along with Celine Song's Past Lives at A24 and Jonathan Glazer's The Zone Of Interest.

The nominees for the international feature category also include Yorgos Lanthimos' Poor Things from Searchlight, Lila Aviles' Mexican drama Totem at Sideshow/Janus Films, and Justine Triet's Anatomy Of A Fall from Neon, winner of the Cannes Palme d'Or.

Along with Ira Sach's Passages (Mubi), Tina Satter's Reality (HBO Films), Kelly Reichardt's Showing Up (A24), and A.V. Rockwell's A Thousand and One (Focus Features), Past Lives will compete for the award for best feature.

The documentaries 20 Days In Mariupol by Mstyslav Chernov (PBS Distribution), Apolonia, Apolonia by Lea Glob (Danish Documentary Production), and Four Daughters by Kaouther Ben Hania (Kino Lorber) are among the contenders.

The $35 million budget cap was abolished by the Gotham Film & Media Institute this year, and studio and streamer movies are among the finalists, however indie movies did well in the announcement on Tuesday.

Lily Gladstone of Killers Of The Flower Moon is up against Greta Lee of Past Lives in the gender-neutral acting categories for The Unknown Country (Music Box), Cailee Spaeny of Priscilla (A24), Jeffrey Wright of American Fiction (Orion Pictures/Amazon MGM Studios), and Andrew Scott of All Of Us Strangers, among others.

Sandra Huller for The Zone Of Interest, Juliette Binoche for IFC Films' French Oscar entry The Taste Of Things, Penelope Cruz for Ferrari, Claire Foy for All Of Us Strangers, Ryan Gosling for Warner Bros.' Barbie, and Da'Vine Joy Randolph for Focus Features' The Holdovers are just a few of the actors in the supporting category.

The nominees were revealed from Cipriani Wall Street in New York by Kia Brooks, the deputy director of The Gotham, and Jeffrey Sharp, producer and executive director of The Gotham.

The Gotham just announced the following tributes will take place at the 2023 event at Cipriani Wall Street on November 27: The Gotham Cultural Icon & Creator Tribute for Social Justice will be given to Rustin (Netflix), honoring activist and 1968 March on Washington organizer Bayard Rustin. Other recipients of the award include Maestro (Netflix), Air (Amazon MGM Studios), and The Gotham Visionary Icon & Creator Tribute for those behind the Michael Jordan partnership.
